PRODUCT DETAILS

25B-D1P4N114 — 525 Series AC Drive, 480V Three-Phase, 0.4 kW, IP66

The 25B-D1P4N114 is a 0.4 kW / 0.5 HP variable frequency drive from the 525 series, configured for 380–480V AC three-phase input and delivering 1.4A output current. The enclosure is IP66 / NEMA 4X — fully sealed against dust and powerful water jets from any direction. This is the 525 platform's sealed variant at the smallest available power rating for 480V three-phase, intended for direct machine mounting in environments where a panel-mounted IP20 drive is not practical.

Beneath the IP66 housing, this is the same 525 platform as the standard open-type drives: dual-port EtherNet/IP built in, sensorless vector control, Safe Torque Off, and a secondary option port. It doesn't sacrifice capability for the environmental rating. The drive wears IP66 and M12 Ethernet connectors as its outward differences; everything inside the housing — the control architecture, the communication feature set, the I/O configuration — matches the standard 525 family.

Commissioning in a Sealed Enclosure

Commissioning an IP66 drive requires planning the parameter access method before installation, since the drive's control terminals are inside the sealed housing. Options:

  • HIM (Human Interface Module): the 25B series supports a clip-on HIM for parameter access. The HIM attaches to the front of the drive and provides a keypad and display for direct parameter entry without opening the housing. Remove it after commissioning or leave it in place if ongoing local parameter access is anticipated.
  • Connected Components Workbench over EtherNet/IP: connect a laptop to the same EtherNet/IP network as the drive and configure all parameters remotely via CCW. This is the cleanest approach for drives in inaccessible locations — no need to physically access the drive at all after initial power-up.
  • Pre-configuration before installation: configure the drive completely on the bench before mounting it on the machine. Since the 525 series supports parameter import/export, a drive can be configured to match a template drive's settings over the network before it leaves the workbench.

FAQ

Q: Can standard RJ-45 patch cables be used with the IP66 model?

No. The IP66 model uses M12 D-coded circular connectors. Standard RJ-45 cables won't physically connect. Use industrial M12 Ethernet cables assembled for EtherNet/IP applications.

Q: Does the IP66 enclosure affect thermal performance compared to the IP20 version?

Yes. Sealed enclosures have reduced heat dissipation. The IP66 model has a somewhat derated output current compared to the equivalent IP20 version at the same nominal power rating. Confirm the output current is adequate for the motor and load at the installation's ambient temperature before specifying.

Q: Can this drive be mounted outdoors on a machine?

IP66 covers rain and water jet exposure. For sustained outdoor installation, additional considerations apply: UV exposure degrades some enclosure materials over time, and solar radiation can raise the enclosure temperature above the ambient rating. Mount in a shaded location or add a sun canopy for outdoor fixed installations.

Q: How is the STO circuit accessed on the sealed model?

STO wiring accesses the control terminals through sealed cable entries at the base of the drive. Plan the STO wiring conduit route before mounting the drive — adding conduit entries after the drive is in its final position on the machine frame is difficult. Once wired, the terminal cover must be resealed correctly to maintain the IP66 rating.
