PRODUCT DETAILS

22F-D4P2N103 — V-mini Micro Drive, 480V Three-Phase, 1.1 kW, IP30

The 22F-D4P2N103 is a V-mini series variable frequency drive rated at 1.1 kW / 1.5 HP, accepting 380–480V AC three-phase input and delivering 4.2A output. The IP30 / NEMA 1 enclosure adds a top cover for protection against falling objects — suitable for open-rack or semi-exposed installations. At 55 mm mounting width, it maintains the V-mini's compact footprint even at this higher current rating.

V/Hz control, four digital inputs, one 0–10V analog input, and one relay output cover the typical requirements for small machine drives without fieldbus connectivity. For applications that need EtherNet/IP or SVC, the 22A or 22B series with option ports are more appropriate. The V-mini delivers reliable variable-speed control in minimal panel space.

Where 480V at 1.1 kW Makes Sense

This drive fills the gap between sub-1 kW fractional-HP drives and more feature-rich platforms at 1.5–2.2 kW. It suits applications where the supply is 480V three-phase, the load is under 1.5 HP, and the control requirement is straightforward: variable speed, digital start/stop, and an analog speed reference. Compact pump drives in process equipment, cooling fan drives on industrial ovens, agitator drives on small vessels, and wire or filament take-up drives on converting machinery are typical fits.

The IP30 housing is a step above the standard IP20 open-type. The top cover prevents conductive objects from falling through the vent slots into the drive — a meaningful protection in open-rack or top-mounted installations near equipment that generates metal chips, fasteners, or similar debris. It is not a wash-down rating; for environments with liquid spray or airborne contamination, an external enclosure rated IP54 or higher is required.

Installation and Wiring Notes

  • Mount vertically on a 35 mm DIN rail or panel surface. The internal cooling path depends on vertical orientation — horizontal or inverted mounting causes overtemperature under load.
  • Input protection: use a dedicated circuit breaker or fuse set sized for the drive's input current rating. At 4.2A output on 480V three-phase, input current at full load is approximately 3–4A; a 10A circuit breaker is typical. The drive has no internal branch circuit protection.
  • Motor cable length: keep cable runs under 30 m. Longer cables increase reflected wave voltage at motor terminals. A dV/dt output reactor is recommended above 30 m.
  • Control wiring separation: route digital and analog control wiring separately from the power input and motor output cables. At minimum, 100 mm separation where parallel runs can't be avoided.
  • Parameter backup: the V-mini has no memory card port. Record all non-default parameters (motor data, ramp times, I/O function assignments) after commissioning. A replacement drive requires manual re-entry from this record.

FAQ

Q: Can a 4–20 mA signal be used as the speed reference?

The analog input is 0–10V voltage-only. A 4–20 mA signal can be converted to 2–10V with a 500 Ω precision resistor across the input terminals, provided the signal source can drive that load. Verify the source output current capability before implementing this conversion.

Q: Is sensorless vector (SVC) available on this drive?

No. The V-mini series supports V/Hz only. For SVC — needed for better low-speed torque or tighter speed regulation under variable load — the 22A or 22B platform with option port capability is the appropriate choice.

Q: Can communication cards be added to expand network connectivity?

No. The V-mini has no option port and cannot accept communication card expansion. For EtherNet/IP, DeviceNet, or other fieldbus connectivity, a different drive platform is required.

Q: What is the minimum reliable operating speed for this drive on a centrifugal pump?

For standard TEFC motors with shaft-driven cooling fans, sustained operation below 10–15 Hz at significant load risks motor overheating. At those speeds, the fan doesn't move enough air for thermal protection. For loads requiring substantial torque below 15 Hz, a separately ventilated motor or a drive with SVC is the correct approach.
