PRODUCT DETAILS

22F-A4P2N103 — V-mini Micro Drive, 120V Single-Phase, 0.4 kW, IP30

The 22F-A4P2N103 is a V-mini series micro variable frequency drive rated at 0.4 kW / 0.5 HP, configured for 100–120V AC single-phase input with 4.2A output current to a three-phase motor. The IP30 / NEMA 1 enclosure adds a top cover for protection in open-rack or semi-exposed installations. With a 55 mm mounting width, V/Hz control, and a compact I/O set, it covers small machine drives where a standard outlet is the available power source and panel space is limited.

Single-Phase Input — Practical Realities

Like all single-phase-input drives, the 22F-A4P2N103 rectifies the incoming AC to a DC bus and inverts that to three-phase PWM output — the motor must be a three-phase induction motor, never a single-phase motor. Input current draw from the 120V supply runs noticeably higher than the output figure alone suggests, due to DC bus charging current on each half-cycle; budget for roughly 7–9A on the input branch circuit rather than assuming a direct relationship to the 4.2A output rating. A dedicated 15A circuit is the minimum recommendation, with 20A providing more comfortable margin against nuisance tripping during startup inrush.

This drive suits small pump and fan drives, lab equipment, light conveyor sections, and any sub-1 HP three-phase motor application where the only available supply is a standard single-phase outlet circuit.

Installation Notes

  • Mount vertically — the internal cooling path depends on correct orientation; horizontal or inverted mounting risks overtemperature under load.
  • Keep motor cable runs under 30 m; longer runs increase reflected wave voltage at the motor terminals and may require an output reactor.
  • Route control wiring separately from power conductors, maintaining at least 100 mm separation where parallel runs are unavoidable.
  • Record all non-default parameters after commissioning — the V-mini platform has no onboard memory backup, so a replacement drive requires manual reconfiguration from documented settings.

FAQ

Q: Can a single-phase motor be connected to this drive's output?

No. Output is always three-phase PWM regardless of the single-phase input. Connecting a single-phase motor will damage it — only three-phase induction motors are compatible.

Q: Is sensorless vector control available on this drive?

No. The V-mini series supports V/Hz control only. For SVC, a 22A or 22B series drive with option port capability is required instead.

Q: Can the analog input accept a 4–20 mA signal?

Not directly — the input is 0–10V voltage only. A 4–20 mA signal can be converted using a 500 Ω resistor across the input terminals, provided the signal source can drive that load.

Q: What's the minimum reliable operating frequency for a standard motor on this drive?

For self-cooled TEFC motors under V/Hz control, sustained operation below roughly 10 Hz at significant load risks overheating due to reduced shaft-fan cooling airflow at low speed.
